One sec

Updated: May 14, 2022

Stepping out of the house welcomed by a cold breeze on a windy summer morning.

Not anticipating the scorching sun

One that came by too rapid

Quicker than desired.

Oh how greatly I craved the morning breeze!

Before long, dawn turned noon

In no time, noon became evening

Sunrise turned sunset

It's back to the breezy phenomenon.

Sitting on a couch on a porch

A content dog dozing peacefully at my feet

A bottle of soda in hand

Attempting to bask in the beauty of the sunset

Frequently interrupted by birds screeching

Loudly yelling at each other in languages I do not comprehend

Sunset passed by so quickly

Replaced by the solemn dark

Still, the screeching continues

Not as loud anymore.

I watch as the birds return to their nests

One, two, three, too many to count!

Alas! The day is over.

Unending communication

It definitely ends someday

One second

One minute

One hour

One day

One week

One month

One year

If one counts by these measures

Here now,

Gone then!

Unending sunrise

Waiting for Sunset!
